Ocean of Mercy is an autobiography by Srila Bhakti Charu Swami, describing his early life and his search for spiritual understanding and fulfillment. This search culminated in his re-discovery of the culture of India, and finally finding his spiritual master, Srila AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada and joining the ashram in Mayapur, West Bengal. There he very quickly became a personal secretary of Srila Prabhupada and traveled with him. He became his personal servant and took care of Srila Prabhupada during his final days. The book is a recollection of his nectarean memories.
I just finished reading your book about your spiritual sojourn and your time with Srila Prabhupada. It was such a pleasant and inspiring read. There was even the added benefit of Srila Prabhupada’s upma recipe. My only complaint is that reading it threw off my schedule. I would pick up the book at 8pm and the next thing I knew it would be 10:30pm, I would late for going to bed, and I still could not put the book down. Thank you for giving us this gem and thank you for your dedicated and loving service to Srila Prabhupada.
I’ve just finished reading your book “Ocean of Mercy.” Many thanks for this sweet memoir, sharing with us your experiences and bringing us closer to Srila Prabhupada – and to you.
Bhakti Charu Swami takes us by hand and brings us into Srila Prabhupada’s private quarters and at times to his bedside during the final year of his physical presence. As I read this book I was astonished and enlightened. I laughed and I cried as I was carried into the personal presence of Srila Prabhupada through this beautiful gift of his loving servant.
You have written a critical memoir, one that blends historic detail with the outpourings of a loving heart. Anyone reading “Ocean of Mercy” will understand the true meaning of the guru-sisya relationship. Thank you for this precious work. I could not put it down. With gratitude for your devotion and service to our beloved Srila Prabhupada.
